    PHASE I WINNER ANNOUNCEMENT

    November 15, 2018

    The expert judging panel will select up to 5 monetary prize winners to evenly split the $25,000 prize purse and up to 5 non-monetary honorable mention award winners.

  • PHASE II*

    Winter 2018 - Summer 2019 (anticipated)

    At the discretion of the Coast Guard and DHS S&T, Phase I winners will compete in a “Piranha Pool” for an additional $120,000 in monetary prizes to support the development of their concepts into prototypes over the course of Phase II.

  • PHASE III*

    Summer 2019 - Winter 2020 (anticipated)

    At the discretion of the Coast Guard and DHS S&T, Phase III participants will test their prototypes in a limited field test and compete for an additional $110,000 in monetary prizes.

*The U.S. Coast Guard and DHS S&T intent to conduct Phases II and III of the competition. All aspects of Phases II and III are subject to change at the discretion of the Coast Guard and DHS S&T.
